Accessibility Statement

Hermes is committed to making its public information, enquiry, verification, and administration services accessible.

Last updated: 20 July 2026

Hermes targets Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA and reviews accessibility as the service changes.

Measures we take

  • Semantic headings, landmarks, labels, lists, and descriptive link text support assistive technologies.
  • Public and administrative workflows are designed for keyboard use with visible focus indicators and a skip-to-content link.
  • Text and controls aim to maintain sufficient colour contrast, readable spacing, responsive reflow, and clear error messages.
  • Reduced-motion preferences are respected for smooth scrolling behavior.
  • Verification status is communicated with text and icons, not colour alone.
  • PDF and uploaded-document workflows are reviewed for meaningful reading order and legibility where Hermes controls the source document.

Known limitations

Some third-party, landlord-supplied, scanned, or historical documents may not yet have complete tags, text alternatives, or optimal reading order. Complex generated PDFs may work better when opened in a dedicated PDF reader. Hermes will provide an accessible alternative for information it controls where reasonably possible.

Feedback and assistance

If you cannot access content or complete a process, use Contact Hermes and identify the page, document, device, browser, and assistive technology involved. State the format or assistance you need. Accessibility reports are prioritised and reviewed for a practical correction or alternative.

For urgent accommodation or safety matters, use the official support or emergency contact supplied with the property rather than relying only on an accessibility report.

Assessment and review

Hermes combines automated checks, keyboard testing, responsive review, and manual inspection of core journeys. This statement will be updated when material accessibility improvements or newly identified limitations affect the service.
